In May 2025, Kia India introduced the Carens Clavis to the Indian market. Following this model, the company plans to unveil an electric powertrain variant under the same name, known as the Carens Clavis EV. This electric vehicle has been seen undergoing testing in India for a while now, often camouflaged to conceal its design details. Nevertheless, it is anticipated to closely resemble the internal combustion engine version. When it comes to the powertrain, the Kia Carens Clavis EV is expected to derive its components from the Creta Electric. If this holds true, the seven-seater electric model will feature a 42 kWh battery pack along with an optional larger 51.4 kWh battery. These battery options are expected to provide an official range of 390 km and 473 km on a single charge, respectively. Notably, both versions will be outfitted with a front-axle-mounted electric motor delivering power output rated at 133 hp and 168 hp.
The final certified range for the Kia Carens Clavis EV could potentially vary due to its bigger dimensions. However, it is expected to come with similar AC and DC fast charging capabilities. Charging the 42 kWh variant from 10 percent to 100 percent using an 11 kW AC fast charger takes around 4 hours, whereas the 51.4 kWh variant needs about 4 hours and 50 minutes for the same. With a 50 kW DC fast charger, both variants can achieve a charge of 10 percent to 80 percent in just 58 minutes. In terms of safety, the Kia Carens Clavis EV will be equipped with a comprehensive package that includes six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start assist control (HAC), vehicle stability management (VSM), downhill brake control (DBC), brake assist system (BAS), and all-wheel disc brakes. Furthermore, the Clavis EV will boast an advanced ADAS Level 2 package, featuring around 20 autonomous functions.
