Tasty and Crispy Bread Pakora Recipe

Bread Pakora is a popular Indian street snack food which you can easily prepare in your home. This dish is a perfect evening snack with a cup of tea, especially in monsoon. The bread slices are dipped in the spicy gram flour batter and then deep-fried. This pakora is crispy from outside and soft and crispy from inside.

Preparation Time: 10 min; Cooking Time: 10 min;

Ingredients

To Be Mixed Into A Paneer Stuffing

  • 1 cup grated paneer
  • 1/4 cup grated carrot
  • 1/4 cup boiled and lightly mashed green peas
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
  • salt to taste

To Be Mixed Into A Smooth Batter

  • 3/4 cup besan (Bengal gram flour)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder
  • a pinch asafoetida (hing)
  • salt to taste

Other Ingredients

  • 4 whole wheat bread slices
  • oil for deep-frying

Directions

For The batter

1. In a bowl, add besan, water, turmeric powder, chili powder, hing, salt and mix it nice and keep it aside.

For the stuffing

2. In a bowl, add paneer, grated carrot, mashed aloo, chili powder, chopped coriander, salt and mix it nicely.

3. Divide the stuffing into equal portions and keep it aside.

How to Proceed

4. Place a slice of bread on a clean, dry surface and spread a portion of the stuffing evenly over it.

5. Place another slice of bread over it, press it lightly and cut it diagonally into 2 equal pieces.

6. Heat a deep pan with oil and dip each piece in the batter till it is evenly coated from all the sides, slowly drop it in the hot oil and deep-fry on a medium flame till the pakora turns light brown in color and crisp from both the sides.

7.  Drain on an absorbent paper and serve it with any sauce of your choice.
