Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared today that India will locate, monitor, and penalize every terrorist along with their supporters, emphasizing that the nation’s resolve will remain unshaken. This statement came just two days following a horrific attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 25 tourists and a local Kashmiri individual. Present at a government function in Madhubani, Bihar, he commenced his speech with a moment of silence for the victims of the Pahalgam incident. He later expressed that the entire nation shares in the sorrow stemming from the cruel act against innocent visitors.

"The nation stands united with the families in mourning. The government is fully committed to supporting the injured. Some have encountered the loss of a son, a brother, or a life partner. They came from diverse backgrounds—be it speaking Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Gujarati, or being from Bihar," he noted.

"There is a profound sense of grief and anger from Kargil to Kanyakumari. This assault was not solely an attack on innocent visitors; it was a brazen affront to the essence of India itself," the Prime Minister asserted. He warned that those behind the attack, including its masterminds, would face consequences beyond their imagination. "It is time to eradicate whatever remnants remain of this sanctuary for terrorism. The will of 1.4 billion people will shatter the backbone of those who perpetuate terror," he proclaimed, alluding to Pakistan, a nation often accused of fostering terrorist activities against India.

Switching to English to convey his message globally, he stated, "To the world, I assure you, India will trace, pursue, and hold accountable every terrorist and their supporters. We will follow them to the corners of the earth. India's resilience cannot be undermined by terrorism. Justice will not be eluded; every possible measure will be taken to ensure it is served. The entire country stands united in this commitment. We receive support from everyone who believes in humanity. I express my gratitude to the leaders and citizens of various countries who have shown solidarity during this difficult time," he added.

Following the attack on Tuesday afternoon, which stands as one of the most devastating incidents in Kashmir in recent memory, the Prime Minister, who was in Saudi Arabia, chose to shorten his visit and return home. In his initial response, he assured that the perpetrators would not escape retribution. He convened a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security that same night, resulting in a decision to intensify diplomatic pressure on Pakistan. The Indian government announced that the Indus Water Treaty would be suspended, the Integrated Check Post at Attari would be closed, and Pakistani nationals would be barred from entering India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme. Additionally, defense advisers within the Pakistani High Commission were designated as Persona Non Grata, and the total staff at the High Commission would be reduced from 55 to 30 personnel.

Previously, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh declared that India adopts a stance of zero tolerance regarding terrorism. "We will pursue not only those who committed this act but also those orchestrating it from behind the scenes... The individuals responsible will soon witness a strong and unequivocal reaction, and I assure the nation of this," he stated.
